Aunt Gail’s Chocolate Cake

Bring to a boil:

2 sticks butter

1 c. water

4 T. cocoa


Take off heat and add to 2 c. sugar and 2 c. flour.  Add 2 eggs, 1/2 c.

buttermilk, 1 t. baking soda, and 1 t. vanilla.


Bake at 400 degrees in a greased and floured pan, size about 10 by 13

inches.  Baking time will vary according to pan, but will be around 15

to 20 minutes.


For icing, bring to a boil:

    6 T. milk

    1 stick butter

    4 T. cocoa


Take off heat and add 1 box sifted powdered sugar and 1 t. vanilla.

Ice cake while hot
